California Outdoors Hall of Fame

Our legendary teacher Bill Lemos - co-founder of the SONAR program with Robert Jamgochian recently received the award for California's greatest outdoor educator. Lemos has led more than 50 national and international wilderness excursions for students and adults. He continues to devote his time to land conservation and education. This award was also distinguishing for the SONAR program which is an advanced placement ecology and eco-literacy course at Mendocino High School and is now condisered a template for environmental studies. This award has not only shone the spotlight on Bill but also on the SONAR class, now taught by Jamgochian and Doug Nunn, and there has been great interest in seeing what this remarkable class will do next.
