Mendocino High School Chamber Singers
-Awarded a "Superior" Rating(highest rating) with a score 93. The judges
also complimented on the musicality, blend, and focus of this group, who
sang two A Capella Pieces. Concert Choir-Awarded a "Excellent" rating with
a score of 86. Our HS men sounded awesome and Chloe and Warren were both
complimented on their solos by the judges.
The 9th Annual Choral Dessert Show will be held on May 2nd at 7:00PM in the
MMS gym. The show will feature the HS Choir and Chamber Singers, and MS
Chamber singers. Students will be performing solo, duet and group numbers
from Broadway musicals, as well as jazz tunes. Tickets are $13. Tickets
must be purchased ahead of time, as we have limited seating. Members of the
choir will serve homemade fancy desserts, coffee and tea to audience
members.
The Dessert Show Cookbook, created by the fabulous Mendocino Choir Boosters,
will be "unveiled" at the show and will be available for purchase. The
Dessert Show Cookbook includes 25 tasted and tested desserts from past
dessert shows. It also includes student cover art, photos of the choir and
all of the desserts have been named, by the students, after Broadway music.
Desserts from the cookbook will be featured at the show on the 2nd. The book
is $15 and will be an ongoing fundraiser to help our students attend music
festivals. Contact Kim Bratton if interested in purchasing a cookbook.
Thursday evening, May 14 at 7pm the Mendocino High School Drama class will
have a premiere party for its comic soap opera "The High School" at the
Matheson Performing Arts Center. The one hour video of the group's three
month improvised project, "The High School" features 14 cast
members. Episode I is titled "The Dance" and concentrates on the shenanigans
leading up to the school's big dance. Refreshments will be followed by the
premiere screening and a Q & A with the actors. The Drama Class is asking
for contributions of $5 for adults and $3 for students for
the Drama Club fund.
